Providing a safe and effective skin whitener requires an eloquent balance of environmental resources and ingredient ingenuity. Because of the instability involved in lightening agents, a safer and more stable active is preferred. Extracted from the Bearberry plant located in African forests; Arbutin is a natural skin whitening agent that functions by inhibiting the body's production of tyrosinase, an enzyme that catalyzes the production of melanin via oxidization. By preventing this chemical process from occurring in the skin, Arbutin may help relieve hyperpigmentation. There are two forms of Arbutin: Beta Arbutin and Alpha Arbutin. Although both types of Arbutin are tyrosinase inhibitors and skin whitening agents, Alpha Arbutin is more stable and effective form. Alpha Arbutin is an alpha glucoside, while Beta Arbutin is a beta glucoside. The alpha glucosidic bond offers much higher stability and efficiency. This may result in a faster, more efficient action on the blocking of tyrosinase enzymes. This blended formula integrates Alpha Arbutin with Hyaluronic Acid to condition and hydrate the skin.
